Privacy Policy
Last updated June 7, 2026
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data Earshot collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
Earshot is an async video interview platform. Employers post jobs and review recorded video answers; candidates record those answers in their browser. This policy explains what data we handle and why. In this policy, “we” and “Earshot” mean the operators of the Earshot service, and “you” means anyone who uses it — employer or candidate.
2. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run the service:
- Account data (employers): your email address and password, used to sign you in and secure your account.
- Job and candidate data: job titles, questions, candidate names and emails you add, and the status notes you write.
- Candidate submissions: the video answers a candidate records, along with how long each answer was and when it was submitted.
- Billing data: if you upgrade to Pro, your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store them.
- Basic technical data: standard logs your browser sends, used to keep the service running and secure.
3. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Provide the core service — create jobs, deliver interview links, store and play back video answers.
- Authenticate employers and keep each account’s data private to that account.
- Process Pro subscriptions and manage billing through Stripe.
- Keep the platform secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
4. How candidate videos are stored
Candidate videos are stored in a private storage bucket — they are never publicly accessible. Access happens only through short-lived signed links that expire automatically. On the Free plan, videos are retained for 7 days; on the Pro plan, for 1 year. After the retention period, videos may be deleted.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the service providers that make Earshot work:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and video storage.
- Stripe — subscription payments and billing.
- Vercel — hosting of the application.
6. Data retention
We keep account and job data for as long as your account is active. Candidate videos follow the retention windows described above. If you close your account, we delete or anonymise your data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep it for legal or accounting reasons.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To make a request, contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Candidates
If you received an interview link, the employer who invited you is responsible for the job you applied to and decides how long to keep your answers within the limits of their plan. Earshot processes your video answers on their behalf. If you want your data removed, contact the employer directly, or reach out to us and we will help.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
10. Contact us
